300 ## - PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Extent Page No. 50-56This research explores the antioxidative effects and anti-proliferative action of Pimenta dioica stem extracts. The ethanolic and aqueous extracts were evaluated for their ability to neutralize DPPH radicals, reduce ferric ions, scavenge hydrogen peroxide and exhibit cytotoxic effects on cancer cell lines. The ethanolic extract showed superior DPPH radical scavenging activity (92.36±0.18% inhibition) compared to the aqueous extract (31.76±0.46%). Additionally, the ethanolic extract demonstrated higher ferric-reducing antioxidant power (90.86±0.10%) than the aqueous extract (82.32±0.15%). While both extracts scavenged hydrogen peroxide, the aqueous extract was more effective (28.15±5.09%). The aqueous extract had superior activity (96.22±0.09%) compared to the ethanolic extract in the reducing power assay. Cytotoxicity was evaluated for both extracts in the L929 cell line, and the anti-proliferative study displayed a concentration-responsive action against the SKOV-3 cell line. These findings indicate that P. dioica extracts have notable antioxidant and enhanced anti-proliferative effects against ovarian cancer cells.
